The Bill of Rights essays The first ten amendments to our countrys constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, play an important role in todays society. These rights can be summed up in the three unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, these amendments can protect someones rights and yet retract them at the same time. Amendment II gives every person the right to bear arms, or own a gun. Everyone in the U.S. could own a gun for themselves, whether they use it in case of self protection or in some cases more mischievous plans. Now, killers have the right to own a gun, whether someone may be suspicious of them or not. It is their right to own a gun, however if they do turn out to cause harm with that gun then they have infringed on the rights of others. Which brings up the question, You cannot deny someones rights, and however, by enforcing someones rights, you might be denying someone elses basic right to life. The Bill of Rights can both help the peoples rights and destroy them at the same time in this situation. In Amendment VIII the Bill of Rights states that excessive bail is not required. This amendment does protect the rights and freedoms of the prisoner at the time of the arrest, however once bail is set and the accused is set free, whats to say that a suspected criminal wont go out and commit another crime, denying the freedoms of others? This amendment also protects people from cruel and unusual punishment. Some may argue that some things, like capital punishment, are in fact cruel and unusual punishment. I believe that capital punishment is far from cruel and unusual punishment. The criminals on death row are usually people who have killed at least one person and took their freedom of life away from them, usually in an inappropriate manner. The best option available to the state for distilled liquor distribution is investment in proper management information system. A proper MIS system will increase the efficiency of distribution. This system will even decrease the quantity of liquor that is stored by distillers. A proper supply chain backed by management information system will report to the state about the needs of the consumers. Thus the amount of liquor supplied will be in c ompliance with consumer needs and extra storage cost will decline. The distillers will not have to store unpurified liquor for a longer period of time, thus they will charge lower storage cost. Decrease in storage cost will result in decline in the amount at which state stores obtain distilled liquor and thus they will sell it at lower prices to the retailers and the end customers will be able to obtain it at a much lower price. The problem with this issue is the implementation of change which may not be preferred by those who are inexperienced and do not have the proper training to work with the new change. Another cost will be the high cost of implementing a MIS system. The state cannot privatize the distribution of liquor as it will result in loss of heavy revenue. During the period of 1992 and 1993, the state earned total revenue of over $515 million through distribution of liquor (Bowersox, 1996, p.458). Secondly, privatization will result in reduction in cost of operations as private ownership will aim at gaining higher profits and thus they may close several second tier stores which will result in loss of jobs and this will not be liked by the unions such as the UAW and they might take up strike as an option, thus resulting in complete stoppage of the operations. 3. When nuclear weapons were first discovered back in the 1940's, no one knew the force they were going to have on the world. Many lives were taken when the United States of America dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These lives could have been saved if the communication between the United States and Japan were better. Those bombs should never have been dropped. Even the scientists, who were part of the Manhattan Project thought this. Ever since the start of nuclear exploration people have feared the out comes that came from nuclear development. Albert Einstein, a German born theoretical physicist, who was living in Germany at the time Hitler came into power. Albert Einstein, Edward Teller, Leo Szilard and the rest of his team members wrote a letter in August 1939 to the United States to warn them that Germany was researching and developing nuclear weapons. The scientists were afraid that once Germany finished building the bomb, they would use it on the United States. The United States during the 1930?s was interest in making a weapon that was so powerful that it would be feared by the world. The United States government establishes a top secret plan called the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb. The Manhattan project was the first quest for nuclear weapons. The Manhattan Project took place in they United States, during World War II and its purpose was to create a bomb by splitting atoms apart. This project was a success and created one of the most destructive bombs ever used by mankind, the atomic bomb. The presid ent at the time, Harry S. Truman, had to face the factors that were involved in making the decision to drop the bomb. By July 16, 1945 the United States government had tested the bomb in New Mexico. The United States Wanting to bring the war to an end with Japan decided to do what was to be one of the most deadly bombing in human history. Then on August 6, 1945 under the authorization of President Harry S, Truman the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on the Japanese. The bomb hit the city of Hiroshima were it caused great destruction to the city and surrounding area. It has been reported that many civilians were killed and injured during the bomb attack.

Introduction In this investigation I am investigating if varying the amount of sugar solution or distilled water determines the concentration of cell sap. I will do this by using different concentrations of sugar solution and distilled water. If the medium is hypotonic — a dilute solution, with a higher water concentration than the cell — the cell will gain water through osmosis. However if the medium is isotonic —a solution with exactly the same water concentration as the cell — there will be no net movement of water across the cell membrane. If the medium is hypertonic — a concentrated solution, with a lower water concentration than the cell — the cell will lose water by osmosis. Investigation variables To have a controlled reliable investigation I will control the following variables: To try my best to do the experiments at the same room temperature. I will prepare the carrots in the same way because any minor changes can ruin the experiment. The mass of the carrots is a dependent variable and this terminology means that the piece of carrot will be measured constantly throughout the experiment. I will measure in grams, in addition the piece of carrot will be measured before and after it is put into the solution, this will allow us to see if any osmosis has taken place. Fourthly the volume of the solution which the carrot pieces are put in must be same for all of them for example all of them should be covered in what is supposed to be covered in. Also I am going to use the same set of scales to measure the carrot pieces in the solution. This is because measurements may vary between the scales. I did this in a lab so everything was under control to make my results very reliable. My hypothesis I predict that the less sugar solution we use the higher the concentration of the cell sap would be. Plan First I will take some xylem cells from inside of the carrot and some phloem from the outside of the carrot I will take 15 samples of each type of cell from each carrot I will put 3 samples in each solution I would then leave it for 1 hour Then I would reweigh its mass Then plot these results onto a graph And then where the line crosses 0 is the concentration of the cytoplasm Conclusion As I conclude I can say that in my investigation I found out that the more sugar solution you cover in the carrot piece the higher the concentration of cell sap would be and there would be more osmosis activity. However what does mystify me is what you can see above, the two outliers because they don not surprisingly fit with the others but I am sure that if we do this investigation again there would be two outliers or less.

My Family At Toys R Us For Her Daughter s 8th Birthday

When I visited my Aunt in Concord not too far outside of the San Francisco, I accompanied her in buying a present at Toys R Us for her daughter s 8th birthday. When entering the store it gave a very exciting and bright atmosphere. The colors were very vibrant with shelves upon shelves of different types of toys. The colors at the front seemed to have a combination of all the different colors and seemed to keep a neutral environment. The store had many places for kids to wonder such as a video game section, different toy sections that were separated into types of toys, and the older kid sections which included bikes, scooters, tri-wheelers, and push carts which were just for the parents to use to push their toddlers around. For the bigger toys in these sections, I noticed that the toys meant for boys had many toys that suggested they should pretend to be different super heroes. In this section even though many heroins had similar colors to the men, there were no girl super heroes in this section despite having many batman and superman toys. When walking into the girl isles of the toy store, the type of toys completely changed. When walking in the isles I noticed that the colors obviously changed to pink and purple. The type of toys in these isles completely contrasted the toys meant for the boys. Toys meant for girls usually comprised of barbie dolls, flowers, and many color books of princesses. Most toys in this section suggested tea parties and playing house. Many of the toys also promoted little girls to wear aprons and to bake cookies and other meals for fun. One of the interesting things about this isle however were how they had more Life size toys than the boys. The life size toys were usually barbie dolls where they could dress up the toy in the girls actual clothing to see what the barbie doll would look like.
